Team

Our team structure enables us to deliver an agile and dynamic response to our client’s needs. We have the ability, proven experience and attention to detail to deliver projects at all levels and scales, from start to finish.

Collette Anderson
Practice Manager

Collette has extensive experience of providing efficient, effective and safe management of organisations and their finances to ensure smooth running of the business and well-being of staff. Previously she worked in commercial/corporate roles in financial and private sector orgnaisations before joining 7N Architects in 2011. Skills and qualities such as rigor, compliance/legislation and quality have readily transferred to the creative industry of architecture.

Collette focuses on managing the business finances and supporting delivery of key elements of the studio’s growth and operations strategy in line with the 7N Architects’ philosophy.

Ewan Anderson
Managing Partner

Ewan is an architect and urban planner with almost 30 years experience of delivering major, complex projects throughout the UK. Previously, he worked at a number of significant practices including Conran & Partners and Foster & Partners, before establishing 7N Architects in 2009.

Ewan leads the practice that has built a powerful reputation for its innovative approach and ability to deliver transformational change. He is an active member of the Architecture + Design Scotland Design Forum Panel, the Academy of Urbanism and is regularly invited to speak about placemaking and urban design.

Carl Baker
Architectural Assistant

Carl is a Part 2 Architectural Assistant who joined 7N in November 2017. Previously he worked at Comprehensive Design Architects where he contributed to several mixed-use, commercial and residential projects. He has also spent time with Collective Architecture in their Edinburgh studio.

In 2013 Carl graduated from the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture followed by the Glasgow School of Art in 2016. During his education he developed and pursued an interest in the value of design in contemporary Scottish housing, and the health and wellbeing of homes and their inhabitants.

Sam Boyle
Architect

Sam is an Architect who joined 7N in November 2016 having spent 4 years working at Reiach and Hall Architects on a wide range of award-winning projects in a variety of sectors including healthcare, further education and sports and leisure. 


Sam studied at the University of Edinburgh having spent a year in Australia working on high-end residential and cultural projects before returning to complete his studies. Sam has becoming increasingly interested in effective place-making and the significance of the civic role a project has on its inhabitants and context, irrespective of scale, site or sector.

Rory Crawford
Architect

Rory joined 7N Architects in 2017. He previously worked in London for Mikhail Riches, as project architect for Phase 2 of the mixed-use redevelopment of the Grade II*Listed Park Hill Estate in Sheffield, up to planning submission; He was also involved in a number of other residential projects on complex urban sites. Prior to this Rory worked at Hopkins for four years, principally on the design and delivery of two award-winning university library projects.

Rory studied at the Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 2011, and qualified as an ARB registered architect in 2013 at University College London.

Emily Fraser
Architect

Emily is an Architect who joined 7N in September 2015. She has previously worked at John McAlslan + Partners in both their London and Edinburgh offices. Emily has worked on a range of projects in varying sectors, from higher education to commercial, residential and civic, situated both in the UK and Internationally.

Emily studied at the Scott Sutherland School of Architect at RGU and the Glasgow School of Art. She has a particular interest in the adaptive reuse of existing buildings as well as the regeneration of places to better the built environment for those within it.

Frances Heslop
Architect

Frances joined 7N in July 2014 and qualified as an architect in February 2017. She has previously worked at John McAlslan + Partners in London on both UK based and international projects in the residential, commercial, retail and infrastructure sectors.

Frances studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL and the Glasgow School of Art. While working at 7N she has become particularly interested in the delivery of successful affordable housing and methods for engaging local communities in the process, while also focusing on sustainability and wellbeing.

Harry Kirkham
Architect

Harry is a qualified architect who joined 7N in 2011, having previously worked at a practice in Newcastle-upon-Tyne for two years developing private residential and higher education projects. He studied at the University of Bath and the University of Edinburgh.

He has extensive experience working on many of 7N’s largest and most complex building and masterplanning projects, with a focus on placemaking and materiality at both the architectural and urban scales.

Melissa Lawson
Architect

Melissa is an Architect who joined 7N in 2015. She has previously worked for Foster + Partners in both their London and Edinburgh studios. Melissa has experience delivering several significant residential and commercial projects of a variety of scales across the UK.

Melissa graduated from The Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) where her Masters project won the RIAS Silver Medal. She has a particular interest in architectural photography which has derived from her time spent as an artist in residency working in artists’ studios in Osaka, Japan and Fife, Scotland.

Robin Livingstone
Associate

Robin graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2003 and is an architect with 15 years of experience working on the delivery of a diverse range of projects in the residential, public and arts sectors. He joined 7N Architects in January 2014, having previously spent 10 years with Malcolm Fraser Architects. His experience covers the broad range of project work stages from inception through to completion.

Robin has combined work in practice with the teaching of architecture at various schools of architecture, including currently at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) at The University of Edinburgh.

Peter McLaughlin
Associate Partner

Peter is a highly experienced architect who joined 7N Architects in September 2015, following seven years in charge of John McAslan + Partners’ Edinburgh office, where he lead some significant cultural and education projects, with a particular focus on the adaptive reuse of existing buildings.

Previous to this Peter had worked for Foster and Partners, delivering the Quartermile development in Edinburgh, having relocated from London in 2004, where had worked on projects across a wide range sectors for Grimshaw, Arup Associates and Foster and Partners.

Neil Munro
Architect

Neil is an Architect with over 20 years experience of leading and delivering projects in Scotland and the north of England. He has worked at several award winning design-led practices in Edinburgh including fifteen years at Malcolm Fraser Architects, and has taught at Edinburgh University. Neil joined 7N in 2015.

Neil has gained experience of a wide range of building types and has particular interests in innovative and sustainable residential design and working with communities to deliver projects rooted in their place.

Alex Reeves
Architect

Alex is a qualified Architect who joined 7N in June 2017. Prior to this Alex worked for London-based practices Gollifer Langston Architects, McDowell+Benedetti and Matter Architecture on a wide range of projects including public buildings, schools and residential projects.

Alex studied architecture at Newcastle and Westminster Universities. He has a particular interest in complex urban sites, adapting existing buildings and modern construction methods such as Cross Laminated Timber.

Nicholas Taggart
Architect

Nicholas is an Architect who joined 7N in April 2015. Prior to joining 7N, Nicholas worked at Conran and Partners in London, where he was integral to the delivery of a number of significant residential and mixed-use projects, including the redevelopment of the Grade II-listed Centre Point Tower at Tottenham Court.

Since joining 7N, Nicholas has primarily been responsible for developing detailed proposals for the first phase of the residential-led, mixed-use development at India Quay, Fountainbridge in Edinburgh.

Nicholas studied at the Glasgow School of Art graduating in 2011 and qualified as an ARB registered architect in 2014.
